People have been creating print-ready documents in Microsoft Word for ages. But what if this content is no longer just printed, but also published online? How does that affect the life of the people who create this content? They now have to focus on structuring their content, rather than styling it. And so our main UX challenge is to guide our users into this new mindset of creating content that’s ready to go anywhere.
As a UX designer at Fonto you design products and functionalities that change the way people work, and are still a joy to use. Together with our designers and developers you sketch, mockup, prototype, test and ask “why” until we have great solutions. Depending on the problem at hand, you’ll dive into design challenges like user flows, micro-interactions, animations, the Fonto Design System or copywriting. You’ll also help us learn more and more about our audience, for which you’ll plan and conduct user interviews and usability tests.
Sometimes these activities will be in the context of a new product version. For product work, you need to keep in mind the needs of end users across many different industries. At other times you’ll join a project team and dive into the needs of one specific client.
We design, develop and implement products for online authoring. People all over the world use Fonto to write, review and edit their documents and other content. Some examples of what our users make with Fonto: International Standards, Parliamentary Committee Reports, airplane manuals and interactive educational content. So how do we make sure that our users can work in a delightful, intuitive way? That’s where our UX designers come in.
